6 Years Since My Last Drink

I recently passed this milestone and so I wanted to share. I’m going to start reorganizing this blog and writing some more soon. I’ve been very busy with life which has been excruciatingly stressful at times… worrying in ways that I had never known… but still not drinking.

I now have a job that I’ve done for more than a year that I love, so I started to focus more of my free time with electronic music, making beats, ambient, techno… just enjoying the simplicity of sitting down with one small machine and making music. I still find it incredibly soothing.

I live near a graveyard, which I stare at quite a bit… seeing the somewhat lifeless balloons from the cemetery in my yard from time to time… looking to see if I can make out what it says on the balloon… there’s a small Christmas tree near someones grave, I can see it as I drive home.

I’ve been in a really good spot lately, with my three cats and my dog, and I’ve attended a synth meeting… so excited to meet some new people. It takes a while to get to this spot… shoulders drop more… and I don’t feel like I’m having to chase anything. I’m in a good spot.

I'm a recovered cocaine addict that used to smoke crack. I went back to school when I was 41 starting by taking one Spanish class. Since that time I have earned an Associate of Arts from Houston Community College, a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) from the University of Houston, a Grad Certificate in Business Development and Management, and I'm about to earn my MBA in August 2018. I have made the Dean's List and I've also been a research assistant for the Bauer School of Business at the University of Houston. I've finally accomplished enough that I can tell everyone about my past drug addiction.
